Wireless Sensors Enterprise Led Network

The ILRP General Details and Evaluation Process document states that

"Proposals should be submitted to the appropriate Programme Director by

16:00 on the specified closing date." The call that appeared in the paper

identifies the closing date as 4th May 2006, and the programme director as

Call for expression of interest

Enterprise Ireland has been approached by WiSen, a group of Irish based companies which has identified wireless sensor networks as a technology field with growth potential for Irish industry. In order to assess the potential for wireless sensor network activity in Ireland, Enterprise Ireland is inviting expressions of interest from relevant parties (academic and industrial) in order to define a targeted research programme in the field. The proposed research programme, if adopted, will aim to solve technology challenges to the development of a world class wireless sensor network industry cluster.

Research topics may include co-ordinated and cohesive work on: n Sensors, n RF air interface n Networks and networking n Data gathering, processing and decision making n Power supply and management n System integration, packaging, and ruggedisation

Submissions should:

Encapsulate the expertise of the interested parties in the are of wireless sensor research,

Outline relevant competencies,

Identify areas of potential interest and expertise which are not included in the associated research document

Indicate particular topics that they would envisage research and development being implemented

An open meeting will be held by Enterprise Ireland in early Feburary to which contributors of Expressions of Interest will be invited. Further details will be circulated on this meeting in the near future.
