Projects

DESNA: Development Environment for Sensor Network Applications
PI: Prof. Vinny Cahill, Trinity College Dublin

A complete development environment that facilitates the integration of RFID and sensor data with planning and optimization algorithms. This environment can be used to drive solutions for challenging operational and strategic problems in many vertical industries.
EmNetS: Embedded Networked Sensing
PIs: Dr. Dirk Pesch, Cork Institute of Technology, Prof. Cormac Sreenan, University College Cork

Networking & protocol development for building power efficient, scalable wireless sensor networks for application in utilities and resource management.

Buildwise: Energy & environmental management in buildings
PI: Dr. Marcus Keane, Nat. Univ. Ireland, Galway

The specification, design, and validation of a data management technology platform to support integrated energy & environmental management in buildings using a combination of wireless sensor network technologies, an integrated data model and data mining methods & technologies.

BlueDot+: Network-level power management
PI: Chris Bleakley, University College Dublin

A network-level power management system for wireless sensor networks which dynamically monitors the data sensed, determines the relationships between measurements and assesses the utility of the data. The system dynamically controls the frequency of sensing and communication to maximise network lifetime whilst achieving application goals.
Microfab Fuel Cells: Low cost fuel cell modules
PI: James Rohan, Tyndall National Institute

Developing long life, reconfigurable fuel cell modules which are microfabricated on silicon. The target is to match current capacity levels over a 10 year device lifetime whilst using lower-cost anode and cathode materials.
