Enterprise Ireland (EI) and WiSen have worked in partnership to develop an Industry Led Research Programme to support and encourage further wireless sensor network research in Irish Universities. The overall aim of the programme is to develop state-of-the-art technologies to accelerate the rate of innovation in Irish companies developing or deploying wireless sensor networks, and to support and advance the development of strategic, innovative R&D in Irish companies.

Specific goals of the programme include:

• Performing R&D projects specified and agreed by WiSen members.
• Increasing awareness of industry R&D needs in third level institutions.
• Training researchers in industry-relevant technical competencies.
• Providing a platform for industry to collaborate effectively with researchers.
• Supporting the development of R&D activity within companies.
• Promoting industry-industry interaction and joint R&D opportunities.
